CHOICES

Octefootprints_002
If I wanted to

I could’ve had you
But I did not choose to;

Instead, I let go

Opted for another road

Rather than share

One with you.

Trapped in a dream,

Wonderful while it lasted

But not a forever thing.

An illusion of love;

Something invented

Because it’s what we

Cannot live without.

Reality is a brutal

Disappointment;

A far cry from anything

One had once imagined.

The truth is stranger.

After the unveiling,

Coats of white,

Layers of black,

The truth lay naked

And exposed to

Our very eyes;

Realization dawned.

Circumstances change one;

Blow something and

You turn a life into

A barren wasteland;

One could alter another’s fate

If one chooses to.

I do not take pleasure

In someone else’s miseries;

Nor plunge into glee

When the other’s unhappy;

I try to look facts

Straight in the face;

Though I may not

Be pleased in what

It was to be revealed.

I do not wish back

For something already lost

Nor prolong what was

Already
so unbearable.

This is my road

My decision what

Byways to take;

And I had decided

That my path definitely

Not lie with you.
